And so we’re back into some sort of Covid thing. We’re not in lockdown where I am but the slimy little bastard is making its way here slowly and so everyone has to wear a mask, both at work and whilst out and about doing stuff. That’s fine, no problem. For me it means I can work from home. Which is a welcome development. I’m not glad that people are contracting Covid but one must always look for the silver linings.
The vaccine rollout in Australia is not going well. A lack of vaccines, especially in rural and remote areas, and a lot of believing dumbfuckery by people in community mean that we’ll probably be one of the last developed nations on Earth to finally kick this thing to the curb. I’m defriending on Facebook faster than I thought possible as I’m happening upon updates such as “No vaccination for me, I’m no sheep” and “If I don’t wear a mask, it’s only me that’s at risk and I’m okay with that.” There’s also some arguments about Marxists, the efficiency of mask-wearing. At this point I usually close my laptop lid.
In other news, I’ve booked Wednesday off work. It’s England vs Germany at the Euros and whatever happens I have a feeling that there will be day drinking involved.
Wherever you are, stay safe, stay sensible and either start or continue to smile.
