I have a wonderful friend. Every single day come rain, hail or shine she gets up at 4:30am, draws up an exercise plan, meets with friends, does said exercise, goes for a swim in the ocean and then grabs coffee – all before most of us have woken from our slumber. She posts Facebook updates about it and I am genuinely inspired and impressed when I see it.
But the journey to Rome started with a single step – or something – and I’m incredibly proud that I’ve managed to start using lite milk instead of full cream on my Coco Pops every morning.
I guess I see it as a reminder to run walk my own race. If I can make small changes, make them. If I can stop taking other people’s stuff on, do. If I can’t stop berating myself for not being perfect, do it. And if I can, occasionally, get the bike out of the shed and ride a kilometre or two, that would be helpful too.
