I have worked out that when it comes to working from home, conditions have to be absolutely perfect in order for me to thrive:
- Caffeinated enough that I am productive but not too caffeinated to the point that I am anxious about things such the colour of the table I am working at
- The temperature that allows me to wear comfortable clothing without sweating but prevents me from scowling out the window because it’s too cold and reminds me of why I left my homeland
- A to-do list that is just the correct length – not too long that I become overwhelmed but not so short that I become arrogant and think I can tick it off in 10 minutes
- Not enough distractions that I become interested in something else but enough that I have something to passively stare at and count when I need a break to prevent eye strain (railings on a fence out my door being a good example)
- Enough rubbish floating around my brain that I can write shit blog posts but not so much that I need to give it a lot of thought and make a pro’s and con’s list
- A podcast that is interesting enough to nod along to but not so interesting that I want to Wikipedia black hole all of the individuals featured
